Intellectual Property

BRG provides companies, individuals and their advisers with a broad range of economic and financial expertise and services across the spectrum of intellectual property matters. We advise on all types of IP rights and intangible assets, including patents and know-how, trademarks and brands, copyright, database rights, design rights, customer lists and confidential information. We provide advice on the value of and interactions among IP assets, royalty rates and licensing structures.

In advising on valuation issues, we ensure that we reflect in the valuation process relevant factors such as the accepted or preferred methodologies and practices, the statutory or contractual framework, competition issues and the market dynamics in which the intellectual property is being utilised.

Real Estate and Fixed Asset Valuation

BRG’s Real Estate practice provides valuation services for commercial real estate and fixed-asset investments for reporting and taxation in both contentious and non-contentious matters. Our experience in commercial real estate includes diminution of value claims, transaction reporting services (including landlord and tenants contentious valuation assignments), providing expert witness opinions and reports, and advisory services in professional negligence situations.

Our practice also covers fixed-asset taxation valuation matters, where we use our combination of chartered surveying, chartered tax and chartered accounting skills to bridge the gap among the different stakeholders and professionals involved in the preparation and delivery of the tax computations; and deliver solutions that ensure that processes are efficient and optimise tax position. We are also experienced in the field of capital allowances and tax depreciation, including advising on capital allowances, claims, sale and purchase transaction allocations, corporate reorganisations and fulfilling reporting requirements for tax authorities.
