Alberto Carpani is an associate director in BRG’s London office. For over two decades, he has undertaken extensive work in consulting, supporting clients on commercial and regulatory issues in the United Kingdom and internationally.

He is an expert in delivering complex economic and financial analysis across a wide range of economic regulation, competition economics, and commercial issues. He applies economic theory and robust data analysis to assess the nature of competition in the markets and the costs and benefits of existing and potential regulation.

Mr. Carpani has extensive experience in working in regulated industries such as telecoms, utilities, financial services, and payments. His work has included managing engagements with fixed and mobile telecom operators; and supporting the development of economic and financial models to help provide insight into their commercial strategies and inform submissions to regulators. He has advised clients on the assessment of risks related to competition enforcement, and he has provided consulting support to clients during investigations by competition authorities.

Mr. Carpani works in a variety of contexts, including supporting the development of new regulation, participating in the ongoing regulatory debate, identifying potential challenges to the application of regulation, and assessing how commercial entities respond to operating in regulated environments.
