Haynes and Boone, LLP and BRG hosted a two-part series on trends and developments in healthcare. Panelists addressed developments and trends in employment, benefits, enforcement, and regulatory compliance affecting hospitals and health systems, physician groups and other healthcare professionals, long-term care providers, investors, and other health industry participants; and provided insight into how healthcare providers can address and prepare for the challenges ahead.

  • Current Challenges and Hot Topics in Labor and Employment and Benefits (October 29): This panel discussed challenges and issues from an employment and benefits perspective. Our panelists addressed lessons learned and what changes employers should consider implementing to address the continuing impact of the pandemic on their workforce, including potential changes to employment policies and benefit plans. Dubravka Tosic took part in the panel with Susan Wetzel and Melissa Goodman of Haynes and Boone; and Keitha Wright of CHRISTUS Health.
  • Potential Civil Liability for Recipients of COVID-19 Funding (November 12): This panel discussed False Claims Act enforcement, trends, and priorities, including risk areas related to COVID-19. The panel also addressed audits that may follow CARES Act funding and programs, as well as the DOJ’s recently updated guidance on Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs and best practices for compliance. Greg Russo took part in the panel with Stacy Brainin and Bill Morrison of Haynes and Boone; and Kenneth Coffin, Assistant United States Attorney, US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
