What to Expect in 2021 from the Biden Administration, Congress, and the US Supreme Court
BRG’s inaugural virtual half-day Class Action Litigation conference brought together nearly two dozen prominent legal experts from top law firms, the press, academia, and the firm’s own class action experts to discuss the future of class action litigation.
The new composition of the US Supreme Court, along with expected Biden administration changes in government leadership, means class action practitioners can expect judicial, regulatory, and enforcement upheaval. BRG Managing Directors David Abshier, Robin Cantor, Janet Thornton, and Amy Worley presented panels on each of the major areas of class action litigation.
Program highlights included:
- CBS Chief Legal Correspondent Jan Crawford provided an overview on what to expect in the Supreme Court this term and beyond during the keynote interactive discussion led by Derek Shaffer, a partner at Quinn Emanuel
- A virtual networking session and the presentation of BRG’s first Legal Champion award to Trish Refo, president of the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Panels on antitrust, data privacy, financial institutions, labor and employment, and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)
Note: There is no fee to attend the virtual half-day event. BRG will seek Illinois MCLE general credit hours for the Supreme Court Class Action Roundup and Sessions I and II breakouts. Individual attendees can seek credit with provided forms in all fifty states minus Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Washington, DC.
