Kai-Uwe Kühn Named Competition Economist of the Year
Kai-Uwe Kühn was named ‘Competition Economist of the Year’ at the Who’s Who Legal Awards 2023.
Also ranked as a Who’s Who Legal ‘Global Elite Thought Leader’ in competition, Kühn joined BRG in September alongside Adina Claici, Konstantin Ebinger and Laurent Eymard as the firm launched its European Competition Policy practice based in Brussels and Paris.
Described by industry colleagues as a “very smart economist” who is “involved in a lot of competition matters”, Kühn is one of the latest additions to BRG’s rapidly expanding global Antitrust and Competition Policy group. He brings over thirty years of competition experience advising private firms and competition authorities on merger, antitrust, state aid and regulatory and damages cases, as well as competition policy in general. He is a professor of economics at the University of East Anglia and was the chief economist at the Directorate-General for Competition in the European Commission between 2011 and 2013.
Commenting on his award, Kühn said: “I am honoured to have been named Competition Economist of the Year at the prestigious Who’s Who Legal Awards. It is a credit to the team I have the pleasure of working alongside as we build out BRG’s European Competition Policy practice from Brussels and Paris into additional national markets”.
