Cyril Hariton

Cyril Hariton has twenty years’ experience as a competition economist, having spent fifteen years in the European Commission’s (EC) chief economist team at the Directorate-General for Competition (DG Comp).

His experience includes all competition instruments and a large set of industries.

During his tenure at the EC and then in private practice, Dr Hariton has been actively involved in the review of more than seventy-five merger cases, including over thirty in-depth investigations, over fifteen antitrust cases and several state aid and damages cases. He has also participated in more than ten inspections and continued inspections as a forensic information technology (IT) expert.

Dr Hariton assisted the EC in the preparation of its defence in front of the General Court of Justice of the European Union and represented the EC in internal hearings, as well as before the General Court.

Before joining the EC, Dr Hariton worked as a research assistant at the UCLouvain and an assistant professor at Toulouse Business School. He holds an engineering degree from ISAE-ENSICA and a PhD in economics from Toulouse School of Economics.
